Freedom Trail visitor information centers are located at Boston Common, Faneuil Hall, and the Charlestown Navy Yard. Please utilize the links below to travel to the Freedom Trail using a variety of transportation options. 

Directions to Boston Common

Walk Into History®, African-American Patriots®, and Revolutionary Women Tours depart from Boston Common Visitor Information Center located at 139 Tremont St., Boston, MA 02111.

Via Public Transit
Take the Red or Green Line to Park Street Station. Exit the station and the Visitor Information Center is 100 yards down the street, in the Boston Common. Visit the MBTA website for further information. 

Via Car 
Use the address of the Boston Common Visitor Information Center as a guide for GPS directions: 139 Tremont St., Boston, MA 02111. 

Parking
For directions to the Boston Common Garage (underneath Boston Common) use the number Zero Charles St., Boston, MA 02116.

Driving Directions to Boston Common Garage

From Points North
I-93 southbound, take exit 26 toward Storrow Drive-North Station, follow Storrow Drive heading westbound. Travel in left lane to take the Back Bay/Copley Square left-hand side exit (2nd exit). At the end of the exit ramp, turn left onto Beacon Street and forced first right onto Arlington Street. At second light, turn left onto Boylston Street. At second light, turn left onto Charles Street and move into the right lane to enter the garage via the ramp on the right.

OR

I-93 southbound, take exit 20-A (South Station) onto Purchase Street. Travel on Purchase Street, which becomes Surface Artery to Kneeland Street. Turn right onto and travel on Kneeland Street, which becomes Stuart Street.  From Stuart Street, take a forced right on Charles Street South. Stay in right-hand lane and travel through the traffic light, now Charles Street. Enter the garage via the ramp on the right-hand side. 

From Points South
I-93/Route 3 northbound, take exit 20 toward I-90, Logan Airport and South Station. Take left toward South Station, and at the end of the ramp, turn left onto Kneeland Street which becomes Stuart Street.  From Stuart Street, take a forced right on Charles Street South. Stay in right hand lane and travel through the traffic light, now Charles Street. Enter the garage via the ramp on the right-hand side. 

From Points West
I-90 eastbound. take exit 22 Prudential Center, and stay right for Copley Place. Continue straight through the traffic light onto Stuart Street, turn left on Charles Street South, which will turn into Charles Street after the first traffic light. Enter the garage via the Charles Street entrance ramp on the right-hand side. 

From Storrow Drive Eastbound
Take Downtown/Boston exit, turn left onto Beacon Street and forced first right onto Arlington Street. At second light, turn left onto Boylston Street. At second light, turn left onto Charles Street and move into the right lane to enter the garage via the ramp on the right.

 

 

Directions to Faneuil Hall

Via Public Transit
Take the Orange line to State Street, exit at the Old State House, follow the Freedom Trail to Faneuil Hall.
Take the Green line to Haymarket and walk south toward Faneuil Hall.

Parking 
For directions to the Parcel 7/Haymarket Garage use 136 Blackstone Street, Boston, MA 02109 (entrance is on New Sudbury Street).

Public Transportation (MBTA)

We call it the T but it stands for MBTA public transportation system. It’s safe, easy to use, and a quick way to get around Boston. Visit the MBTA website for further information. 

There are T stops along the Freedom Trail:
Boston Common, Massachusetts State House, Park Street Church, Granary Burying Ground - Red or Green line to Park Street stop and Orange or Red line to Downtown Crossing stop
King's Chapel & King's Chapel Burying Ground, Boston Latin School Site/Benjamin Franklin Statue, Old Corner Bookstore, Old South Meeting House, Old State House, Boston Massacre site, Faneuil Hall - Orange or Blue line to State Street stop or Green or Blue line Government Center stop
Faneuil Hall, Paul Revere House, Old North Church, Copp's Hill Burying Ground - Green or Orange line to Haymarket stop

By Commuter Rail:
If you are staying in a suburb of Boston, we recommend parking at a commuter rail stop and taking the train into North Station, Back Bay Station, or South Station. From there take the subway to points along the Trail. Commuter Rail schedule and maps.

By Commuter Ferry:
If you are coming from the South Shore, you can travel into the city quickly by boat. While walking the Trail, commuter ferries to Charlestown Navy Yard make round trips all day long departing from Lovejoy Wharf and Long Wharf. Commuter Ferry schedule and maps.
